Childcare is a public good - let's fund it like one

Childcare in NH isn't just unaffordable — it's a policy failure. Economist Kathryn Anne Edwards makes the case plainly: there's no market fix, because you can't make caring for children more efficient. It requires human attention. That costs what it costs. Meanwhile, providers burn out, and parents — mostly mothers — quietly exit the workforce because the math doesn't work. NH needs real public investment in childcare, not piecemeal subsidies. Early childhood care is a public good. It's time we funded it like one.
