Crosspartisanship for politicians

I believe that the survival of our republic hangs on our ability to separate our hatred towards certain politicians from the people who voted for them. An essential element of every democracy is a broadly shared sense of purpose, which requires a restoration of our social fabric. The ability to solve our existential problems, the durability of our policies, depends first of all on a modicum of cross-partisanship. I would like to see our NH residents and leaders engage in an ongoing series of workshops that restore civility, remind us how to listen to one another respectfully even as we disagree, and to use our revived civic purpose to tackle the big problems that face us through citizen assemblies that engage and commit our leaders to following through on citizen-led solutions.
