Failing our young men
From "Welcome to The New Hampshire Forum!"
Go to the project
Boys are increasingly falling behind girls in our education system. We need to address this problem a large population of undereducated young men with fewer options for employment is leading to a growing cohort of young men falling through the cracks. Look at high school valedictorians, in the 80s it was overwhelmingly male now it is overwhelmingly female. College and graduate school attendees are majority female. It wasn’t healthy when men dominated these positions and it is also not healthy to have women dominate.

No, we don’t. Boys are afforded the same educational opportunities that girls are, and girls do not deserve to be punished because boys are not taking those opportunities.
When you say that boys are “falling behind”, you are comparing them to girls that are outperforming them. That’s not boys falling behind, that’s girls trailblazing ahead. Women and girls have systemically been held down for decades, and despite men often not having the same educational and academic standing that girls do, they still make more money, are more often CEOs and are more often promoted even when women do just as well or better than them. Again, the only way that we can “help boys” often inadvertently punishes, girls, which is not productive.
