Florida is working on eliminating personal real estate taxes. I believe they are proposing a modest sales tax. Given Massachusetts high sales tax rate of 6.25% a 2% sales tax would still draw many Massachusetts Buyers to Salem NH and other border states. Real estate taxes make it difficult for young people to buy a home and older people to keep their home. In effect Massachusetts consumers would help us eliminate residential real estate taxes.
