Current State law allows landlords to decline to renew an apartment lease at the end of the lease term. No reasons are needed to end the lease at the expiration of the lease term. Considering the challenge of finding acceptable housing in New Hampshire without being required to pay much more than one third of one's monthly income, this law seems to be unjust. It also discriminates against those who have fixed incomes and are entitled according to federal law to reasonable housing accomodations such as senior citizens and those with disabilities.

This is critical, affordable housing is needed allow recent graduates to remain, provide the work force we need, allow for the evolution of housing as folks age. This should be a priority for both legislative action at all levels, and for citizen dialog to surface ideas and build support
