New Nuclear Power Plants

From "Welcome to The New Hampshire Forum!"

Go to the project

We need to evaluate Schiller Station and land in that area for new Nuclear Power production. Be it 8-10 SMR's or 2 large scale AP-1000's. We need more clean energy and these 2 options, in this location is the best option for our future in New Hampshire.

Maybe. But solar and wind/tidal power options should be looked at also.

The last thing we need is more nuclear power, do you how much energy goes into mining and enriching the Uranium and the never ending problem of storing the waste? Wind, Solar and Tidal energy is clean and efficient with no looming natural disaster.

@Charles Fassi Nuclear is in fact the greenest energy source we have when you account for grams of co2 produced over the full life of the system (which includes mining and construction) and in terms of land use. Solar and wind are tremendously land-use intensive and if we wanted to power our state with either we’d need to clear cut tens of thousands of acres of forest to do so

@Charles F. I admire your commitment to finding ecological solutions but you may have been missinformed about nuclear power. You correctly identified the environmental cost of extracting and enriching uranium but ignored the cost of extracting, refining, and manufacturing your alternative energy sources. I encourage you to document the requirements you have for an eco-friendly power source and then investigate which solutions align best. Thank you for advocating for this beautiful state and it's ecology. ❤️

@Charles F. Solar clean not so. Solar panels let’s look into what goes into making a solar panel, how much oil is used in those wind farms the same looking into all the raw materials I used to make those windmills it’s staggering you want clean energy Hydro is the way they go every wastewater treatment plant in the United States should have their own Hydro plant on their outfall producing electricity

We are destroying our ecosystem. Building wind mills and solar. We have been powering subs for iver 30 years and not one protester. But all of you screaming about power plants. Please read. We have the greatest Nuclear physicist's in the world that have been sharing their abilities in Europe because the US is blind. Time to wake up. Sorry to tell you but windmills are killing more wildlife than anything else in this world and none of you seem to care. Guess what I care and pipelines okay as long as they are not in my state. Wake up people. We are the greatest technological country in the world.

The BWRX-300 seems promising! Ontario is already building so FOAK penalties would be reduced if we started building here
