Property Tax Senior Citizens
From "Welcome to The New Hampshire Forum!"
Go to the project
With property taxes increasing by thousands of dollars a year in some cases it’s not possible for our senior citizens on fixed income to continue to reduce other necessities to pay the increased tax. Your driving our seniors out of their homes and in many cases out of the state away from family and friends.

We spend our entire working lives paying taxes—income tax, sales tax, property tax—year after year. Then, when we finally reach retirement, we’re told we still have to keep paying significant property taxes just to stay in the homes we already paid for. For many seniors on fixed incomes, this isn’t just frustrating—it’s becoming unsustainable.

It’s sad that our community isn’t thinking about the folks on Social Security we do not have the income that we once had . Most cannot keep up with the increased taxes & end up losing our homes ! We have paid our dues throughout the years yet the taxes continue going up with no consideration for the seniors ! 75% of our taxes goes to the school system !! What is right about this ???

Our city does not adjust Senior Gross income with Social Security income yearly raises to be eligible for senior tax cut.. Our income increases by 2% or more yearly, but the city does not increase their allowable gross income to coincidence with SS raises. Do better! You are taxing us out of our homes.
