Property taxes

Go to the project
Stop wasteful spending on unnecessary things, like bloated government and education. There should be less administration in our schools, maybe 5 SAU districts.

Get rid of the voucher program which is gutting the funding of our public schools. Only folks who were already sending their kids to private schools are benefiting from this program. The state is funding private catholic schools instead of public schools, and they are not paying enough per pupil either. This needs to change. Ayotte gave tax cuts to the wealthy, and shoved the costs for education onto the cities and towns.

I’m more than glad to pay my taxes. However I want those that spend the money to be better stewards of our tax dollars. They are responsible for using our tax dollars wisely.

Property taxes ARE a problem. But this statement sounds hyperbolic. What is "unnecessary"? Which spending is wasteful? The plan proposed to reduce SAU's is so poorly constructed it will create more problems than solve beyond the cherished principle of local control.

I do agree that we should move to a county model of schooling versus a town model of schooling, as I believe that a student ZIP Code should not determine their educational future, which is exactly what happens when towns are responsible for funding their own school districts.
We need to spend more money on education, and I agree that administration needs to be paid an appropriate wage, not the bloated excessive wages they are making now. By reducing the number of admin and their income, we can pay teachers more and put more of our school budget towards actually benefiting student.

The state is too large and our roads and highways are not conducive to bussing children more than 10-15 miles to school. I agree there should be less administration, however I would like to see the state actually pay it's fair share. Property taxes are killing us in these rural districts.

I promise that urban areas are getting killed in property taxes too, not just rural. It is a statewide issue.
