Risky response to drug problems

From "Welcome to The New Hampshire Forum!"

Go to the project

The way the drug epidemic in NH is being handled is not working. The state as a whole is enabling drug addicts. In order to receive services they need to be in a rehab program. I have tried to enjoy my downtown area, only to come across an erratic and dangerous drug addict! I went to one of my local shopping centers and saw a woman sitting on a bench trying to inject herself with a needle in broad daylight. This is not the idyllic NH I thought I was moving to! I would move but my grown children are here and their significant others. I also now have a grandchild who I worry about being raised here. Enrollment in the college in my area is down and I think it’s the drug addicts adding to that decline. When parents visit and see them hanging around they decide this college is not for them. So keep enabling the drug addicts and giving them wonderful and expensive services that I’m sure places more burden on the taxpayers! The word is out and they keep coming for the free hand outs and no accountability!
