State vs. Local Control

The needs of State and Local government seem to be at odds rather than in coherence and residents are paying the price. The nearly sole reliance on property taxes to pay for State, County, City/Town, and School needs is just not sustainable, especially as the property tax burden shifts to residents with the decline in commercial property value. Local municipalities are powerless to combat this. Without the imposition of a State-wide tax, the State should provide better options for revenue generation at the local level.
