The Free State Project

From "Welcome to The New Hampshire Forum!"

Go to the project

Members of the Free State Project have taken over the NH Legislature and have reduced or eliminated the State's financial support of towns and cities. Placing the burden of paying for schools, infrastructure, etc. locally. Unfunded mandates and the Voucher Program have increased the financial burden to the school systems. It is outrageous that over 50 million dollars is being directed to the Voucher program. This program has been touted as allowing educational choice, but it is one way to destroy public education, a goal of the Free State Project.

@Rebecca M. The Free Staters had their big Liberty Forum in NH in March, which is basically a political conference, but the curriculum is: say things you don’t believe, back candidates you don’t believe in and trust the process. No really, one libertarian organizer described the vibe as “an anarchic society…” The movement is still chasing its goal of 20,000 people moving to NH to create “liberty in our lifetime,” but they’re currently at about 6,000, so basically a medium-sized town trying to rewire an entire state. Then things got extra (dis)honest. House Majority Leader Jason Osborne told attendees that sometimes politics requires you to “go on the 6 o’clock news and… say… something that you don’t actually believe.” Nothing says “freedom” like lying and rehearsed insincerity. Sounds more like lying and dishonesty than what I look for in a leader. Osborne (Mr. Lie-berty) also reminded everyone that “Your vote is just a tool,” and that supporting candidates you don’t even like is the path to victory. Which is inspiring if you’re in a cult. The conference featured apolitical strategy session about saying things you don’t believe. 🤥 Also worth noting: one speaker called a former ally a “grifter”, and another politician just summed up the whole experience with: “I love this shit.” Honestly, at least that last quote feels refreshingly transparent.
