Why is NH property taxes going up. GOOGLE ANSWER to NH spending. Yes, New Hampshire uses state tax dollars to fund private school tuition and expenses, similar to Texas, primarily through the Education Freedom Account (EFA) program. These "vouchers" allow public funds intended for education to be used for tuition at private, religious schools, homeschool expenses, and other approved educational costs. Funding Source: Funds are taken from the state education trust, which is financed through taxpayer dollars.

Public funds (tax money) should never, ever be used to subsidize private schools that are able to pick and choose students. Public schools are the best answer to educate our children. When all economic levels are represented, all students thrive. When the wealthy are allowed to abandon the public school system, their sense of elitism increases and American ideals of equality and unity disappear. The answer to school problems was never more private schools, but more support for public schools.

@Porcupine Spider , unfortunately our public schools have failed our children. I had to enroll by children in private schools because our public schools were dumbing down material and their expectations where low. I paid out of pocket as a single mother from grades 4-12 while paying my property taxes. So my town's school received funds for my sons education but did not spend it on them. Administration costs are through the roof and the NH Teachers Union is controlling outcomes which continue to dumb down our students. Teachers can't teach because of disruptive behaviors and no support for principals as there is no consequences for bad behavior. If I had school age children, I would have them in private schools or I would homeschool. There is a Strong Network of mothers who homeschool in NH. And I know of many young people who have received an excellent education being homeschooled.

Good. Our public schools are a nightmare. People should have options as to how THEIR tax dollars are spent to educate THEIR children, especially when they find their local school lacking.

Tax payer dollars should not be taken away from our public schools to fund private tuition.

@Muskrat Wasp , the EFA's are funded through business and other state taxes. NH schools continue to receive state money even when a child is homeschooled.
