We need to protect the preborn

From "Welcome to The New Hampshire Forum!"

Go to the project

Currently our laws regarding the right to life are very weak. They fail to protect our most vulnerable. The children in the womb are human beings. It is important that state law recognizes the dignity that all human beings have. Abortion is a violation of the dignity of the pre-born children. These are real people that are killed each day in our state. We need to completely protect the life of each human being in this state.

Thank you for bringing this conversation to the forum. I want to have a better understanding of your position on this matter, so would you mind clarifying what you would consider to be an alternative to the current legislation that prevents abortion after 24 weeks except in cases where the mother's life is at risk? This has always been a hotly contested point throughout human history, so it is always a worthy topic of conversation. I consider a ban after 24 weeks to be a defensible position based on scientific consensus that this is the point where a fetus has increased neurological activity and could viably survive outside of the womb. Is there a different number of weeks that you are suggesting or are you asking for an outright ban?

My concern is that if a child is forced onto someone who doesn't want them, they are vulnerable to being abused. (Aside from the fact that it's a stretch to call an early pregnancy "alive" for a multitude of reasons... for those who are religious, even the Bible says in the Old Testament that life begins when they take their first breath, and there are multiple verses about God directing fetuses to be ripped out of women's wombs as punishment, and dashing infants against rocks. "God"/the writers of the Bible said this.)
